Yatabe House tour

The grandson of original owner Keikichi Yatabe graciously guided WAAJ visitors around this small house, built on the western outskirts of Tokyo by Arata Endo in 1928. Despite its size and economical construction, it features a grand fireplace in a double-height living room, with terrific acoustics befitting the owner's career as an opera singer. The younger Yatabe restored his grandfather's home in the 1990s and has filled it with a variety of elegant, organic chairs that he designs himself.
