U.S. Embassy (Project) Tokyo, 1914
While Wright was visiting Tokyo in 1913, he began a design for a new American Embassy. After receiving written instructions from embassy staff regarding additional layout needs, Wright completed a perspective and floor plans at Taliesin in 1914.
Essentially the modification of a residential design he had prepared for a Canadian client, Wright's
embassy included symmetrical wings with the ambassador's residence in the center, overlooking a courtyard.
The embassy was not built. (KS)
